This course is designed to demonstrate communication’s impact in actually creating the experiences humans undergo when we organize socially around a shared goal. After we clearly explore the role of communication when humans organize, we then focus on several theories related to organizing. In the latter part of the course, we explore several topics that emerged from the organizing efforts of people. This list includes topics like emotion, conflict, change, leadership, technology, and the current experience of what it means to work.

We have two students studying computer science and cybersecurity who are looking for 35-45 hour internships in the tech field and are ready to begin anytime of the coming months. St. Cloud students who major in cybersecurity will work on issues with global impact in a field that is evolving almost daily. They learn to assess the security needs of a computer and network system, recommend safeguards and manage the implementation and maintenance of security devices, systems and procedures to protect it. They study databases and programming and the theories on computer networks and security and how to apply them to real-world problem solving. And they learn to think critically and be creative and innovative in solving new problems that arise in this ever-changing field. We have a student studying Marketing, Hospitality, and Sports Management who is looking for a spring semester internship (approximately mid-Jan to mid-April). To highlight how these areas of study prepare our student for an internship: Marketing : Examines strategic planning and tactical decisions appropriate to the management of marketing activities in an organization. Areas covered include product planning & development, distribution, pricing, promotional activities (including advertising), & consumer behavior. Hospitality and Tourism: Through class activities, applied research projects, site visits, & speakers, students gain the necessary tools & experience to build successful careers in the hospitality & tourism industry. Sports Management : Includes instruction in program planning & development; business & financial management; sales, marketing & recruitment; event promotion, scheduling & management; facilities management; public relations; legal aspects; and health & safety standards.

We have a student studying Math and Spanish who is looking for a fall semester internship. They have assisted four college level math courses and tutored dozens of students in both Math and Spanish at the high school and college levels. They've also written a number of grants and organized and ran a career fair for 500 students, involving over 70 businesses and 3 branches of the military. They are currently creating math enrichment activities for Pre-K through 8th grade math students.
